Sludge Applications
The kajaaniTS solids analyzer (Density) has a proven track record in many Waste Water Treatment plants throughout the world. Locally, we have installations in Kingston (Ravensview), Durham (Duffin Creek) and City of London (Greenaway). In each installation, the kajaaniTS has proven its worth through accurate correlations to the laboratory (accuracy) as well as allowing operations to optimize their process. For example, when measuring the sludge from the primary clarifiers; the above WWTP’s can now change their pumping cycles from time based (fixed period of time) to a more productive cycle based on pumping until a low target (2%) is reached. In this strategy, the downstream subsystems (Digester and/or Dewatering stages) are not being hydraulically overloaded hence the WWTP’s can now increase their pumping yields. In upset conditions (rain storms); this latter strategy of pumping until a low set-point is reached ensures that the clarifiers are not building up with solids being swept in and possibly damaging equipment or causing downtime due to maintenance issues.
Cake Applications
The kajaaniTS is the only instrument that is field proven to measure the cake solids that feed the Incinerator. In our many installations, we have proven that the kajaaniTS correlates to the laboratory such that we can present to the operators both accurate % solids and conductivity readings. These readings can be used to optimize the operation of the Incinerator. Fuel savings are a paramount benefit when using the kajaaniTS in the cake feed line to the incinerator.
